The most important thing to do each day
I met Marianne Williamson on the weekend. She is currently travelling and speaking in Australia.
It's not the first time I have seen her speak. I adore her!
She is such a strong for voice for love in action.
She held Q&A's at both the lunch and evening talk I attended.
One of the best questions asked was by a younger person. They wanted to hear Marianne's thoughts on how we protect ourselves from the "assault" of all the terrible news while staying engaged in what is happening in the world.
I've wondered the bloody same and struggle with finding the balance myself!
Marianne referred back to something she spoke a lot about...
how we need to start each day with a spiritual practice to give us the capacity to withstand the effects of what we experience in our day and the current insanity of the world.
In the morning we are most open to new impressions from the Divine.
Time spent in meditation, prayer and silence will help us take charge of our energy and thoughts. If we don't, we're more likely to react to what we encounter in the day.
She repeated the importance of this simple and powerful practice (and resisting going online first thing in the morning!).
Have you got a morning practice? If not, what's stopping you from carving the time out?
Even five minutes spent in silence and solitude will pay dividends throughout your day.
This kind of practice is also fundamental to us hearing the whispers of our soul and the divine.
