Sacred soul places and why you need one

What is a soul place you ask?

A soul place, or sacred soul place as I to refer to it, are places on earth that hold a special magic for us and help us connect more deeply to our inner spirit and the great spirit beyond.

Some times these sacred soul places are called 'power places'.

Each of us will have different experiences at these sacred places, but you're pretty much guaranteed to leave feeling better after spending time in a place that plugs you back into your divine essence.

You feel a noticeable ‘shift’ in how you feel and think after spending time there.

It's so important to make time to visit your sacred soul places, because it will be easier to tap into creative ideas, inspiration, guidance, and healing after spending time there. Which is essential when you are soul searching for the work you are being called to do and the contribution you are being called to make at this important time on the planet.

It also vital for all of us changemakers to recharge and recentre ourselves in our soul places as we continue the work of creating a more loving, just world.

It’s tough work and it can feel terrifying to look at what's happening in the world and what needs to shift. So the more we are plugged into and aligned with our divinity and spiritual selves, the easier we will find it to maintain our hope and optimism for the future. Soul places help us do this.

My soul places

Crystal Castle, Bundjalung country (near Mullumbimby/ Byron Bay), Australia

If you want to hear me gush about this place, listen to the podcast.

While I was disappointed it wasn’t a castle made from crystals when I first went there (lol), I just love this place. I always feel so calm and peaceful after spending time there. They also serve the best chai in the Byron Shire (thank me later for that top tip!).

Bali, Indonesia

Mama Bali is a powerful energy portal of light and I am so grateful for the times I’ve spent on this special island. The Balinese are spiritual people with ritual a daily part of life. I usually head straight to Ubud in the hinterland of Bali. You can read about the serendipity that brought me back sooner than I expected (and get my advice on how to create more of it to guide you on your path).

Chalice Well, Glastonbury

Gosh, the energy of this special place called me back numerous times while I was in England in 2020-21. I experience such a surge of energy sitting at the foot of the Chalice Well. I found myself wanting to lay in the gardens and never leave when I went!

The beach - any beach really, but these pics are taken near my home in Ocean Shores, Australia

Sunset, sunrise or middle of the bloody day, the beach is a magic place for me that reconnects me back to my soul.

Flying in the clouds

I am hyper aware of the environmental damage done by plane travel, but I cannot escape mentioning how much my soul lights up when flying above the clouds. There is something magical to me about the liminal space created when on a flight - you’ve left a place behind, but not yet at your destination. Suspended in time, my soul feels free to daydream and expand into limitlessness.

Where is your sacred soul place?

What places are you drawn to that energise you with life-force energy, where you feel at peace or uplifted or just have an overwhelming sense of coming home to yourself once you are there?

Many people feel drawn to nature or somewhere on country. Mother earth is a powerhouse when it comes to tapping us into soul and spirit.

Do you enjoy the hills, forest and trees? Or perhaps your soul prefers to be near water like the ocean, or a river or lake… or perhaps it's the expansiveness of the stars in the sky or an incredible vista or outlook.

But maybe you are drawn to manmade structures - like a temple or church, which contain the energy of being a collective home for many people’s sacred soul place.

Or it could even be your back garden, a nearby park or even your favourite cafe.

Where is that place for you that opens your heart and helps you exhale into who you truly are?

What to do if you don’t know your soul place

If you don't know what your sacred soul place is, then make time to explore.

Don't overthink it - follow your intuition or curiosity about some place that you might have heard of that you thought sounded interesting and make it a priority to go and visit and see how you feel when you get there.

Perhaps there is a place that you just feel drawn to for no apparent reason.

Just make the commitment to take action and explore places.

If you know where you power place is, then take this as your message to go there and soak up its power.

Our soul places are portals for us to more deeply connect to that inner knowing and that inner guidance that is trying to show us the way forward in life and work. So make time for it.

Let me know in the comments what your soul places are - I’d love to hear!
