The power of believing we are not alone and grace is unfolding
You are not alone; this is grace unfolding.
My recovery mentor signed off her emails with this quote.
It held me through the dark night of my soul.
The idea that I wasn't alone, and that grace was supporting me, buoyed me through the desperation of my recovery from a 16-year eating disorder (which I sometimes wondered if I would survive).
And now I see it's so much bigger than that.
We are living through a collective dark night of the soul.
Genocide is being committed while much of the Western world looks away.
Colonial, capitalist, patriarchal systems continue to uphold power for the few while stripping rights and liberty from so many.
And the media - rather than illuminating the truth - often acts as a mouthpiece for the systems that profit from exploitation and oppression.
But even here…
Even in all this pain…
Grace is unfolding.
Grace has many meanings, but to me, it is the gifts we receive from the ever-present, infinite divine intelligence guiding us back to our centre, to our soul, and our true nature as expansive, interconnected beings.
It’s the trust that something greater is moving through all of us.
That the pain, the breakdown, the loss - it’s not meaningless.
It’s part of the path toward awakening.
A return to love.
A rising into who we were always meant to be.
It may seem as though things are getting worse.
But we are not alone; this is grace unfolding.
Look at events - in your own life and our world - through this lens, and you will see grace working.
After the 2017 flood hit my region, the largest at the time in over 40 years, I saw first hand how grace works in times of great need.
Amid our community recovery, I saw…
The right people turn up at the right time.
The resources we needed turned up like magic.
Leadership and power rise from the people.
We were guided each step to coordinate an immense volunteer effort that supported thousands of people.
It was a divine orchestration, fuelled by unconditional love in action, and it was powerful!
This same power is available to all of us.
When you open yourself up to grace, you create space for the unexpected and miraculous to occur in your life.
You have new insights emerge.
You are guided to your next level of healing.
You have fruitful chance encounters with people or opportunities.
You find yourself in the right place at the right time.
You experience synchronicities that speak to you.
You feel supported by a divine force.
It’s like crossing a threshold from fear and limitation, to a mystical state of being of surrender, trust and faith.
To recognise and open up to grace, create moments of pause, prayer and solitude.
Not to escape the world - but to meet it with presence.
Switch off from devices and the demands of everyday life.
Practice tuning in through meditation, time in nature, mindful breathing, or simply a cup of tea and quiet reflection.
These moments will help you open to the wonder and gifts available to you.
And help you remember…
You are not alone; this is grace unfolding.
With love + deep trust,
Mandie
